Meet our Board Members below.

President Kathleen Street is a former Public Health Nurse for the Hāna District, and previously supervising nurse for the former Hāna Medical Center. Her nursing degree is from Maui Community College and she received her BSN degree from the University of Hawai‘i, Maui Outreach Program. After 31 years working for the State of Hawai‘i, she recently retired. 

 

Secretary Pohakawaiʻipuʻuhaoa Kanakaʻole is a Hāna School alumna and mother of four Hāna School keiki. She was formerly the nursery manager at Kahanu Garden and is currently a small business owner and member of Halau o Nakaulakuhikuhi.

Director Huakane Medeiros is Hāna's lead electrician, who graduated as a student apprentice of Ma Ka Hana Ka ʻIke's foundational Building Program. Now with his own business, he credits his dedication to the field to his earlier work experiences with the program. He is also a proud father and supporter of hands-on, vocational training to prepare students to enter the workforce.

Director Dege O'Connell is a Hāna School alumnus and General Building Contractor in Hāna. He has recruited many Ma Ka Hana Ka ʻIke Building Program graduates to his team to work on projects such as the Kahanu Garden visitor center and Kaupō School.

Director Kaimana Cabebe brings with him over 15 years of experience in Hawaiian medium education. He currently serves Ke Kula Kaiapuni o Hāna as a makua, kumu and luna hoʻomalu. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Hawaiian Studies from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.
